I am an active executive that very much believes in the science behind staying active to keep your mind and body sharp and strong. I enjoy competition with others and myself. My deepest passion is mountain biking and I enjoy road biking. After years of avoiding running at all cost, I am growing more comfortable with it which recently included a last minute decision to run the 5k portion of the San Fran Marathon. Now I am focused on completing the half next year in San Fran. Looking forward, a triathlon isn't too far off in the future.
Soon after writing this "about me" for the team last year, in the midst of training for an upcoming qualifier race, I had some routine lab work done which lead to the doctors finding kidney cancer. The reality is that training and being active saved my life. The day before the lab work, I did a 50 mile MTB ride with a 40 pound vest on which pushed my body and caused my kidney function to be out of whack which prompted the closer look and revealed the cancer. After that one round of concerning lab work, I never had the issue again, even prior to the surgery so the cancer would have gone undetected. So now, about me round 2 is that I am officially in remission and ready to get back after it.
