I started triathlon in the late 90s with a 4 month training program with Silicon Valley Triathlon Club for the Vineman 70.3. I went 5:38 the first year and wanted to break 5 hours moving forward. I broke 5 hours at Vineman 70.3 in 2001 which for no rhyme or reason gave me the guts to do an Ironman. 2002 was my first Ironman at Lake Placid (12:15). I got laid of from work shortly thereafter and struggled for a year to find a job. Once I did, triathlon went on the back burner to concentrate on my career. In 2012 and 35lbs later, the MaccaX community showed up and relit the fire for me to get off my butt and race again. Since then, I have had success racing as a bigger athlete in the Clydesdale division if the races offer it. Below are my successes it what I call my rebirth of triathlon:
2013 Miami Man Half Iron distance, 2nd place 40+ Clydesdale (this was after drinking like a fish during the camp and running an extra mile on the run during the race)
2014 Half Vineman Aquabike, 2nd place
2014 Challenge Atlantic City, 1st place Masters Clydesdale Division
2015 HITS Napa Half Iron, 2nd place 40 and over Clydesdale
2016 HITS Napa Half Iron, 1st place relay (I swam and rode)
2016 Total Body Fitness Tri For Real #2 Olympic, 1st place Clydesdale
2016 Total Body Fitness Tri For Real #3, 4th place AG 40-44
2016 HITS Championships Palm Springs, 1st place 40+ Clydesdale
2016 HITS Athlete of the Year
2017 Ironman Santa Rosa Finisher
2018 Granite Bay Triathlon, 2nd place men’s relay (swam and rode)
2019 Morgan Hill Sprint, 1st place (Clydesdale division)
2019 TBF Racing, Tri For Real #2 Olympic, 3rd place Clydesdale division
2019 TBF Racing, Tri For Real #3 Olympic, 2nd place Clydesdale division
In my spare time I love to cook and BBQ.
