I'm 40 years old and married with 3 kids. I've always been very active since I was child. I got into triathlons 6 years ago after mainly just doing run/trail marathons. I did my 1st Full Ironman 5 years ago and just kinda put triathlons on the back burner the past 2 years or so. I tell people my wife gave me the ok to do 1 full ironman every 5 years (due to the training required). So I was excited for doing a full Ironman this year. After reviewing my notes from my previous years races, I knew I needed to change my nutrition on race day. I had always had GI issues during the run leg of any tri longer than a sprint. My younger brother had an extra bag of Infinit laying around so I asked him if I could try it out (2018). I was doing IM Muskoka 70.3. I used it during a few training rides and also got TRiPWIRE for the run. My half ironman race went great. No GI issues and no cramping. Set a new PR by 15 mins (5:40 and some change). That was 2018 and was looking forward to 2019 race season (1 sprint, 2 Olympics, 1 70.3 1 full). I got a custom blend (mrgroantri) for this upcoming season and used it on all ride greater than 2 hours and at all races. That said 2019 was a banner year. 2nd place in AG at sprint in April (6 min pr). 3rd place AG at Tri Louisville (15 min pr). 22nd AG IM Muncie (27min PR). 4th AG at Tri INDY. 30th AG at IM Chattanooga (over 2 hour PR) this race was brutal because of the heat, but I didn't cramp once during the bike or RUN. I truly believe that my Infinit nutrition was what did it. While almost everyone was walking the marathon I ran the whole thing except during the aid stations to get ice and water and a swig of TRiWIRE at every stations. Next year will be a big year for me goal wise. Sub 5 hour 1/2 Ironman and try to qualify for worlds at Des Moines and Muncie. I also will be doing nationals and we'll see what happens there.
