As a kid I used to watch the KONA IRONMAN World Championship with my dad always in awe of what these amazing athletes could do. When I started getting injured in running I thought I'd give triathlon a try. My dad came up for my first race excited to see what I could do. Needless to say I had no idea what I was doing. After the race my dad said, "How come you didn't come in first?" and we both laughed...knowing that I was the one holding my nose in the swim, riding with a hybrid road bike, but running my butt off on the final leg of the race, not first, not last, but totally hooked. My dad told me to keep going...It was also at this race that I met an amazing woman from the Mullica Hill Women's Triathlon Club who invited me to joy their new club...a year out I did and it's been an amazing journey. My dad passed away suddenly just over six years ago so he missed me making it to Nationals, Escaping From Alcatraz, and taking the podium a few times in our local races but I know he is with me every stroke, rotation, and step of the way! Our co-cheering at the TV watching KONA back in the day inspired me to live to my potential and have fun doing it! I LOVE THIS SPORT AND ALL THAT IT GIVES BACK! Best wishes for another fun season...bring on 2020..
