Good start to the season! 3rd Overall in the HITS Sarasota Half Ironman Triathlon.

I had a planned to visit family in Sarasota, FL and there happened to be a half ironman going on basically across the street the same weekend so I figured may was well do it as an early season tester. It was high 40s and breezy at race start which the Floridian seemed to dislike but being from Chicago probably played to my advantage!

My swim training has been very lacking as of late so I've been focusing a lot on cycling and running during this block. That showed on race day as I was middle of the pack out of the water in my worst swim split ever. Made up for it on the bike splitting 2:07 to move into 4th and moved into 3rd with a 1:31 run. Super happy with the result given how early in the year it is and after a week of recovery I'm now building towards Ironman 70.3 Florida in April!
