Olympic distance race in the heart of Texas in the middle of summer. Placed 4th out of 18 in a very competitive field. Tri Waco is one of my favorites races in Texas.
Another Tri Waco Olympic triathlon in the books and folks, it was a hot one but we still had a lot of fun! Racing with #teaminfinitperformance triathlete Chris Hughes and former Fit2trainer David Jones, these guys are fantastic athletes. Swim felt like spa water nonetheless I had a decent swim with a time of 26:50 min. Onto the bike, I had my Custom Blended Formula with 250 calories and another bottle with plain water. The 40K bike was a 3 loop course in a somewhat crowded course but the road was smooth. Clocked a 1:07:46 hr. for 22 mph average bike leg. Onto the run that's when you feel the heat the most. This run course has about 2 miles of hilly terrain but for the most part it is flat. I covered the 10K in 54:13 min. with a pace of 8:44 per mile. I completed the race in 2:32:35 hrs. placing 4th out of 18 in my age group. Overall, I was pleased with my performance taking in consideration the extreme heat. Thanks to #trinowendurance for putting together such a quality event. Also to the city of Waco for welcoming about 750 of us. Onwards!
