The annual Summer Sizzler at Beaver Island NY is a great race to round out the season. For triatheletes you can choose the sprint or formula one format. There are also aquabike and duathlon offerings. The course is fast and flat, and sub one hour times are common. 

Personally this race is a challenge as I tend to slack a bit in the late July training. Coming off foot surgery a year ago and COVID last December, this year's training and fitness has been a struggle. My run fitness took a dive since COVID and I work hard to break 10 minutes when I couldl click off 8:30 - 9:00 minute miles. I was really pleased with my 1:08 time as I was expecting 1:20. 

The season is done for me, so I'm doing some group rides and will round out with a century before taking back to the basement.
